Cat euthanasia at home offers a dignified way to say goodbye to your pet, providing a comfortable experience that suits your cat’s needs.

Instead of stressful clinical settings, cats can pass away peacefully in the place they’re most familiar with and with loved ones by their side.

Here are some things to consider, when deciding whether cat euthanasia at home is for you…

Keep your cat comfortable

Familiar surroundings can help make your cat more comfortable, allowing them to pass peacefully somewhere they recognise. This is particularly helpful for cats who struggle with veterinary visits, keeping their final moments stress-free and in a place they know.

During your cat euthanasia at home appointment, it can be beneficial to surround your cat with toys or blankets they love, with familiar scents and positive associations making them calmer when the time comes.

Appointments when you need them

Our cat euthanasia at home service is available every day including weekends and we can provide same-day support, with friendly vets available across a range of locations. Our quality of life consultations can be conducted over the phone or on video call, so you can get access to immediate advice from experienced professionals.

What to expect when you contact us

When you get in touch, you’ll be given an appointment for a video or phone consultation, where we explain your options. Our experienced veterinarians conduct quality of life assessments, which provide clarity for pet owners and help to inform your decisions about next steps. We will assess your pet’s needs, looking at any health conditions and evaluating their quality of life. Before any medication or procedure, we explain each step and obtain your consent.

On the day, our vet will check your pet and explain what will happen. First, the veterinarian administers a gentle sedative to ensure your cat is calm and comfortable. When you’re ready, the vet will administer the final injection, which causes a peaceful, painless passing. Appointments typically last between 30 and 60 minutes for most visits, but may take longer for seriously ill or complex conditions. We’ll allow as much time as you need to say goodbye.

We also have a range of aftercare options to support you and can provide cremation services with local crematoriums. You can choose a private cremation with the ashes returned or a communal cremation (no ashes returned). We also provide paw print and fur clippings keepsakes.

Our bereavement support also offers practical tips for those struggling with grief, as well as someone to listen whenever you need it. We can also help you decide how to memorialise your cat, and how you can continue to remember them going forward.
