Are fuel costs covered by the company? Open/Close

Fuel costs are not covered by the company if you are only travelling between where you live and your base plant. If you are requested by the company to travel somewhere aside from your base location then you may be eligible to be reimbursed for the fuel costs.

The company will provide you with accommodation in near to the head office in Leeds, West Yorkshire whilst you attend the central induction.

Am I eligible to register with the RCVS? Open/Close

To be able to register with the RCVS you need to have obtained an EAEVE accredited degree and have the IELTS level where required. Please click the link to the RCVS website below to see the list of EAEVE accredited degrees.

 

Europe – Professionals (rcvs.org.uk)

The IELTS level of English required is dependent on the role. The level of English necessary for the Veterinary Meat Hygiene Inspector (MHI) position is IELTS level 5 . To be eligible to work as an Official Veterinarian position (OV), a minimum temporary requirement is IELTS level 6 in all disciplines, however you are required to achieve IELTS Level 7 within 18 months for full MRCVS registration.

Yes, you are required to make and pay for your own arrangements when travelling to the UK.

You can request your deployment location during the interview process however we cannot guarantee this. Requesting a specific location or region may delay your deployment dependant on the business requirements at that time.

We will endeavour to inform you of your deployment location a week before your arrival, however due to the nature of the business, the requirements can change therefore we cannot guarantee that your location will stay the same, it is always subject to change.

Yes you are required to have a UK bank account in your own name.

With some providers, you can open an account without stating a UK address, mainly Transferwise is used in this case. If you cannot open an account because of where you are based, then you must buy a phone sim card when you land at the UK airport and use that to open an account.

A driving licence is required for the majority of our field-based roles. Anyone with a valid driving licence issued in their country of origin (outside of EU/EEA) is permitted to drive in the United Kingdom for up to 12 months after which you will need to sit a UK theory test and then on successful completion of this you can apply for a UK practical driving exam.

Holders of a licence issued in EU/EEA nations can drive in the UK until the document expires. You won’t need to retake your test or exchange your driving documents.

If you hold an International Driving Permit (IDP), you will be able to drive in the UK for up to one year from your arrival date in the country. Please note that you may need to obtain this IDP in your home country. If you hold an IDP, you must apply for a full British driving licence BEFORE the 12-month expiration period is complete. If you wait until after the expiration period to extend the validity of the IDP, you will not be allowed to legally drive in the UK.

As part of your induction and if your position requires a company car, you will be required to undergo a 30-minute driving assessment with a qualified driving instructor to be eligible to receive your car.

If you do not pass it, you will need to arrange additional driving lessons until you become confident driving in the UK and can retake and pass the driving assessment.

Within this time, you will have hopefully secured your permanent accommodation.
