Our Regional Directors drive forward technical excellence through direct line management of the Area Managers, Technical Managers and Operations Managers within their Regions and work together to help form our corporate veterinary and technical strategy. We also have qualified and experienced veterinary auditors who deliver our technical and field-based internal audit programme.

We have a strong senior management team which has been involved with providing these services for many years and has a clear understanding of the industry and its requirements, expectations and processes.
Charles is our CEO and is responsible for shaping and delivering our growth strategy, positioning E&J as a world leader within the sector. He is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience within professional services and people-centric businesses. Most recently, he was CEO of a specialist legal practice which, during his tenure, grew to become the largest such practice in the UK.
Outside of work, Charles enjoys spending time with his family and is a keen amateur runner.
Experienced Business Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the veterinary food hygiene industry. A skilled professional with excellent leadership skills, business acumen and the ability to effectively manage, lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team. A qualified Engineer with over 20-years’ experience as a business analyst and management information system manager with a keen ability to focus on an organisation’s information systems. With expertise in analysing business problems and then designing and maintaining solutions in a range of differing environments. Duncan is responsible for monitoring contract performance against specification and undertakes high-level customer liaison in matters relating to contract negotiation and new business proposals.
Jon is a qualified Environmental Health Officer and has extensive experience in enforcement and enforcement-related processes, and in the development of quality management systems and frameworks in a service provider context. He is responsible for high level contract management and customer liaison, and has a strategic overview of general operational performance and specific responsibility for quality management and service delivery nationally. He is line manager to the three Regional Directors and plays a key part in forming the corporate strategy for continuous improvement. His previous local authority and central Government agency work before joining E&J means he has a valuable insight into customer expectations and is committed to ensuring exceptional standards of service delivery performance.
David is responsible for developing diversification and expansion opportunities at E&J. His initial business training was with tobacco giants, Imperial Tobacco and British American Tobacco, before moving to the food industry, including the poultry, meat and ready meal sectors. Subsequently, he joined the Ministry of Agriculture subsidiary, ADAS, to develop commercial revenue streams from the food industry, in the lead up to ADAS’ privatisation.
He has extensive experience creating and delivering compliance services to the livestock and food sector, including as inaugural CEO at Assured British Beef (now, the Red Tractor scheme), Managing Director of the Soil Association’s organic certification subsidiary and founding CEO of the livestock and food certification business which became Acoura. David then spent nine years with Vorenta Limited, ultimately serving as its Chairman.
Lizzie is a Chartered Accountant and experienced Finance Director who thrives on driving financial success and growth. With over 15 years of hands-on experience across companies within manufacturing, automation, and property, she’s supported many different businesses with developing and streamlining processes, building strong teams, and collaborating to support growth.
When she’s not crunching numbers, you’ll find her enjoying time with family, tending to her rescue chickens, or exploring her love of gardening and games.
Jane acts as Veterinary Adviser to the Board of E&J, ensuring the team is aware of the continuous challenges affecting those in the veterinary public health profession and associated industries. She supports E&J in preparing for change to meet customers’ needs and maintain their regulators’ high standards of compliance.
She has over thirty years of experience in veterinary public health and animal welfare, previously holding a director role in the Food Standards Agency and currently holding multiple independent roles. These include the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, serving on the Disciplinary Committee, the Preliminary Investigation Committee for Veterinary Nurses, and the Accreditation Panel; Chair of Food and Drink Qualification Ltd for the Food Training Council; Chair of the Pig Health and Welfare Council for AHDB; and working with DEFRA as a member of the Animal Welfare Committee.
Official Veterinarian since 2000 with a wealth of experience in all aspects of food safety combined with outstanding management skills deployed since 2002. Innovate, progressive and thought-provoking approach to challenges with the aim of ever-increasing delivery of objectives in an effective and efficient manner while representing increased value for money. Keenly interested in the development of people through knowledge and the adoption of new technologies, to aid the achievement of corporate and contractual goals.
A team player who establishes and develops effective local working relationships with our FSA colleagues , food business operators, industry bodies, Local Authorities and other stakeholders with a view to providing consistent and effective technical support and advice to deliver official controls. E&J Regional Director for the entire East region providing clear direction, guidance, technical training and support, to ensure the correct implementation of E&J/ FSA policies and E&J standards of behaviour.
Jurgita qualified as a vet in Lithuania and in 2006 joined E&J. She maintained a leadership role as AVM since 2016, and has extensive practical experience in auditing food safety management systems, conducting approval assessments, in-depth knowledge of legal requirements relating to Official Controls and extensive internal and external stakeholder engagement.
Jurgita uses a positive attitude and energy to encourage others to work efficiently, and to think strategically for the benefit of the organisation to implement various policies on food safety and effective service delivery.
In her free time, she enjoys running, cycling and canyoning with her family.
Ester is our National Technical Lead for Food Safety and Animal Welfare, providing legal and technical advice to ensure the delivery of Official Controls and compliance with quality and food safety standards. She works in a Regulatory Body environment and has excellent knowledge and understanding of EU and UK Food Safety, Animal Health, and Animal Welfare Legislation, along with a demonstrable history of ensuring Food Safety compliance within the meat industry. She has worked at E&J for over 20 years, graduating from the University of Barcelona in 1997, before starting her career as an Official Veterinarian in 2000.
Georgios is our National Technical Lead for Exports, overseeing national standards and legislative changes for export certification. He has worked at E&J for over 20 years, starting as an Official Veterinarian in 2003, before moving to specialise in exports.
Patricia is the National Technical Lead for Imports at E&J, supporting a team of Technical Managers to deliver the highest technical standards of service delivery. Graduating in Veterinary Medicine at the University de Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Patricia has worked as a Portal Official Veterinarian for over 20 years.
