What was it about this role that initially appealed to you?

As an Istanbul University veterinary graduate with 5 years in small animal practice and 3 years at the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture, public health has always been my core focus. Transitioning to a Meat Hygiene Inspector role 4 years ago was the perfect way to use my veterinary expertise to directly protect the human food chain on a larger scale.

What does an average day in the life of a Meat Hygiene Inspector look like?

My day is all about strict routine, order, and absolute meticulousness. I work with livestock, poultry and wild game as well as others. I systematically inspect live animals and carcasses, focusing deeply on catching pathologies, contamination, and parasites. In addition, we are checking the hygiene, cleaning procedures and processes of slaughterhouses as well. Every step is executed with precision to maintain 100% regulatory compliance.

Why is it important for businesses to work with Meat Hygiene Inspectors?

We are the ultimate shield protecting businesses from public health crises and brand ruin. Our independent, specialized oversight ensures strict compliance, giving businesses the ethical confidence that their products are genuinely safe for the public.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role as a Meat Hygiene Inspector?

The peace of mind we provide to families. I have a daughter, and because of the rigorous care we apply at work, we know that when people eat at home or out anywhere, everyone can enjoy their food without any risk. Providing that exact same safety net to millions of other families is incredibly fulfilling.

What is something about your role as a Meat Hygiene Inspector that you wish more people knew?

I wish people knew the depth of expertise required by hygiene inspectors. We aren’t just stamping carcasses; we are managing complex biological risks. Behind every safe meat, there is an inspector working with absolute precision and dedication to human health.
