Raluca Dobre joined E&J over seven years ago, coming to the UK from Romania after working as a private practice veterinary surgeon. She began her career with us as a Meat Hygiene Inspector, moving into various roles including Official Veterinarian, Export Official Veterinarian, Community Pet Clinic Veterinarian and Operations Manager, before progressing into her new role of Technical Manager.
When asked about why she chose to join us, Raluca said:
“I saw this as an opportunity to improve my working skills and gain experience in the food industry, which was a passion of mine since starting university. I was also aware of the extensive training E&J provide, along with the opportunity to understand the food sector, and great onboarding and technical support.”
As Operations Manager at E&J, Raluca worked closely with our veterinary team, ensuring the smooth operation of our service delivery. Her role involved coordinating staff and overseeing compliance with regulatory standards. She said:
“One of my key accomplishments in this role was understanding the need for deploying the right people in the right place, taking plant complexity and staff skills into consideration, which resulted in a significant reduction in non-compliance incidents. This vision underscored the importance of integrating technical knowledge with operational efficiency – a perspective I am eager to bring to my new role.”
From September, Raluca will begin her role of Technical Manager, which will see her provide technical support to veterinary colleagues, enhancing their capabilities through consistent support. Within this role, she hopes to promote the core values of E&J by encouraging teamwork and mentoring others.
We asked Raluca how E&J have supported her career:
“My line manager played an active role in my development by giving me challenging assignments, advocating for promotions and helping to set career goals, advising me to exit from my comfort zone. My team also helped me by sharing knowledge, their experiences and being open to collaborating on different matters.
E&J offered workshops, online courses, tools and resources, helping me to enhance my skills with professional development opportunities. The experienced managers and colleagues guided me all the way, with a regular performance review helping me to grow. I felt supported on my career goals.”
Raluca hopes to continue growing professionally while making a meaningful impact. We wish her all the best with her new role and can’t wait to see what she does next.
