This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re taking a moment to reflect on something we’re genuinely proud of — the opportunity to develop our people through Level 5 and Level 7 Leadership Apprenticeships.

At the heart of our organisation is our people. We believe great leadership doesn’t just happen — it’s nurtured, supported, and continuously developed. That’s why we’re grateful to be able to offer these apprenticeships as a meaningful pathway for our current and future leaders to grow.

To mark National Apprenticeship Week, our Leadership & Development Specialist, Heather McPherson, shared her thoughts on the importance of apprenticeships and how they support future development…

Growing Leaders from Within

Our Level 5 Leadership Apprenticeship supports those stepping into management or operational leadership roles. It gives our emerging leaders the confidence, skills, and practical tools to lead teams effectively, manage change, and create positive working environments.

For us, this means stronger managers, more engaged teams, and a culture where people feel supported to succeed.

Our Level 7 Leadership Apprenticeship is designed for senior leaders and high-potential talent. It focuses on strategic leadership, commercial thinking, and organisational impact — helping our leaders think bigger, lead with purpose, and drive meaningful change across the business.

What makes these programmes especially valuable is that learning doesn’t happen in isolation. Our leaders apply their knowledge directly to real workplace challenges, delivering improvements that benefit both individuals and the wider organisation.

More Than a Qualification

These apprenticeships represent more than professional development — they’re an investment in our future.

Through them, we’re seeing:

  • Increased confidence and capability across leadership levels
  • Stronger collaboration and communication
  • Practical business improvements driven by learner projects
  • Greater engagement and retention as people feel valued and supported

Most importantly, we’re creating space for our people to grow: not just in their roles, but in how they lead.

Proud to Support Our People

During National Apprenticeship Week, we want to say thank you to everyone who has taken part in our leadership apprenticeships so far. Your commitment to learning and development is helping shape our organisation for the better.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support our leaders on their journey and we look forward to continuing to build strong, capable leadership for the future.
