Eville & Jones was proud to be a part of the OV Conference Online where we seized the opportunity to shine the spotlight on the vital work of our Export Official Veterinarians.
Our Business Development Manager, Ioana Dobre, gave an excellent presentation on the journey of an export product from farm to fork as seen through the eyes of an OV, highlighting the important work that our dedicated staff do to ensure food safety and enable international trade.
Speaking at the event, Ioana said: “Although sometimes the OV work in abattoirs seems not so glamorous… our role is substantial in protecting the animal welfare, safeguarding public health and facilitating international trade and we do it with pride.
“I’ve personally seen an increase in awareness and recognition for OVs in the past two years.
“This can only be beneficial for our profession, for the future generations of vets and hopefully we can see more graduates decide to join the public health path and build a career as OVs.”
The OV Conference Online is the only event dedicated solely to the continuing professional development needs of OVs, and offered 18 hours of talks and presentations over three days last month.
Like previous years, the event consisted of both lectures and panel discussions, with each session giving delegates the chance to get involved by submitting questions for the speakers. For those who were unable to attend the event, recordings are now available on the official website.
Ioana would like to give a special thanks to her Eville & Jones colleagues Pedro Benitez, Ana Carrasco, Silvia Buzaljko, Antonella Festi and Georgios Kakarantzas for their great support and valued feedback in preparing for the event.
Our staff are always proud to fly the flag for the crucial work that we do in veterinary public health, and this has recently won Ioana a finalist spot in a prestigious awards ceremony. She has been recognised in the Industry Supplier category of the Women In Meat Industry Awards for her work sterling work in raising awareness of the challenges facing exporters post-Brexit.
Ioana is delighted to be attending the awards ceremony alongside other industry leaders on 17th November at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London – best of luck Ioana!
